Roagna Solea Langhe Bianco DOC Italy 2016

Solea is sourced from the bottom section of the famous Pira vineyard using Chardonnay vines that are approximately thirty years old and a percentage of Nebbiolo added to this white blend. It is fermented in large wood cask by indigenous yeast and aged again in neutral oak barrel for about two years.

Roagna Solea 2016 has the most fascinating fragrance. It is powerful but not heavy, complex and joyful, with bouquet of floral, lime blossoms, candied lemon peel, exotic fruits and herbs followed by un-overpowering woody, smokey and nutty notes. This is a distinctive, great wine to experience with an ageing potential.

Produced only less than a thousand bottles a year, each are numbered.

From Piedmont comes this intriguing white blend of Chardonnay (75%) and Nebbiolo, the latter made as a blanc-de-noir. It’s a heady, nutty wine that’s bold in character but has an undercurrent of freshness and salinity. Two years’ aging in old oak barrels bring a richness and caramel note to the tropical fruit freshness creating delicious balance and tension. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030
