Orin Swift Machete 2014, California, USA

One of the most sought-after, most popular Orin Swift wine from California. Big and robust on the nose with dark berries, currants, licorice, cloves and white pepper, full-bodied. Although big and bold on the nose much softer on the palate, smooth tannins, noticeable acidity. Made by one of the greatest talents of our time, Dave Phinney, represents a great value. One of the last bottles available, not only in Europe but in the world!

AWARDS AND REVIEWS

6th on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 list of 2016

This wine, at 15,500 cases, is telltale opaque bluish/purple with a super nose of barbecue meat and herbs, blackberries, blueberries, white flowers and sweet, dark raspberries in the background. The wine has fabulous texture, great intensity, full-bodied power (15.7%), and a long, long finish. It is a killer effort and like the Abstract, probably best drunk in its first 5-6 years of life because of its charm.

Generous and expressive, big and brawny, this offers a mouthful of tannins but also brims with flavors and aromas, including Earl Grey tea, dark chocolate, dried violet and toasted gingerbread. Rich notes of plum and black cherry are balanced by forest floor and earth accents, which linger on the long finish.
