Domaine Tempier, Bandol, Provence, France 2014

A deep, ruby colour, aromas of dark fruit, intense smooth tannins. Domaine Tempier's 2014 is already showing tertiary aromas of leather and forest-floor but has at least ten more years ahead. The wine is traditionally made without using herbicides, chemical fungicides. Low yields for full potential. Hand harvested, carried in small bins, hand selected grapes. Fermented with natural yeast, aged 18-20 months in large oak casks and bottled without fining or filtering.

This is such a wonderful, classic Bandol with a warm, rustic character that we would have every vintage in our cellars.

An impressive barrel sample, the 2014 Bandol Cuvee Classique shows surprising depth and concentration in the vintage. Notes of dark fruits, mineral and peppery, Provencal herbs all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, elegant 2014 that should drink reasonably well on release. by Jeb Dunnuck

Pretty lively and gassy. Racy and clean. Very warm and yet with sufficient acid.
