Chateau Monbousquet, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, France 2015

Chateau Monbousquet has a beautiful terroir allowing it to produce a rich and opulent wine. Robert Parker considers it one of the most seductive and exotic wines of the Bordeaux region. Ageing in 70% new French oak from 18 to 24 months gives it subtle flavours of sweet spices that blend elegantly into the beautiful flavours of cassis, black cherries, floral notes of lavender and roses. Soft, round and very charming. One for the hedonists.

A rich, expressive, slightly showy style, with waves of cassis, creamed raspberry and boysenberry fruit racing forth, backed by a polished yet ample structure. The long, licorice- and ganache-framed finish packs on weight as it moves along, yet stays defined and pure. Impressive. Best from 2022 through 2040. 9,333 cases made.

Seductive aromas of violets, roses and jasmine. It combines elegance with power and intensity with layers of firm, fine tannins with a very long length.

Blended of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French oak, 70% new, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Monbousquet simply sings even at this youthful stage with notes of crushed black cherries, mulberries and cassis with touches of lavender, cloves, Sichuan pepper and roses. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely textured with wonderful elegance and impressive depth, offering up perfumed blackberry layers and a long finish that whispers fragrant earth suggestions.
