Siro Pacenti PS Rosso di Montalcino Tuscany 2016

Rosso di Montalcino's are known as "baby Brunello" but Siro Pacenti's Rosso exceeds all expectation from its classification. Siro Pacenti is known by his perfectionism. He keeps yields in the vineyards extremely low to get more intense juice comprising the quantity.

The wine has incredible fruit intensity, cherries, blackberries, blueberries and herbs accompanied by finest vanilla and milk chocolate flavours coming from French oak. Tannins are sweet and round. The wine is poetic, bright, velvety soft, harmonized, very modern and so good!

This smooth operator matches pinpoint ripeness with seamless, lightly handled oak, fruit and oak tannins gently swirling together. A mini-Brunello of well-judged intensity.

The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is a bright and vibrant red wine that really pops from the glass. It exhibits a cheerful vertical lift that embraces all the senses. That buoyant bouquet is duly followed by robust cherry flavors with an impressive level of richness and concentration. This wine shows good structure and staying power. It has the budding complexity that comes so naturally to the mighty wines of Montalcino. Some 15,000 bottles were made, and you get excellent value with this bottle. —by Monica Larner
