Domaine Olivier Merlin Moulin à Vent "La Rochelle" Beaujolais 2015

Olivier Merlin's La Rochelle has a deep and intense colour. Highly concentrated palate with well-marked but velvety tannins. Attractive aromatic expression of spices (pepper) and ripe cherry. Made of incredible 77-year-old Gamay grapes from one of the region’s most celebrated vineyards in Moulin a Vent, Domain Olivier Merlin’s ‘La Rochelle’ is a concentrated and intensely flavoured style of Beaujolais which drinks beautifully young but also has superb ageing potential.

Surprisingly, the wine has a Burgundian Pinot Noir style. 2015 is the best vintage since 2009, maybe even better, an incredible value for such a beautiful wine.
